30. Jubiläums Yukon Quest 2013

Über $2,200 US sind zusammengekommen und es war ein großer Erfolg. Das macht es Mike & Sue einfacher den Verlust durch entgangenes Preisgeld wieder etwas auszugleichen. Ich bin sicher er wäre wieder in die Preisränge vom Yukon Quest gefahren. Natürlich ist diese Hilfe auch ein wenig "eigennützig" .. wir wollen ihn ja nächstes Jahr wieder an der Ziellinie sehen, oder?

Hello and thanks!!
As far as the shoulder goes, Mike visited a highly recommended orthopedic doctor here in Fairbanks. X-rays showed no serious bone damage and he is thinking that the tendons and ligaments will come back on their own with time and physical therapy. Of course, taking care of 39 dogs is pretty solid physical therapy!! While the shoulder still gets very sore at times when I over-do it, it is stronger every day and my range of motion continues to increase. We are expecting a full recovery and looking forward, not back. Mike has already been back out on the runners with some puppy teams and a few short runs with the race dogs!!

Sue took part of the race team and some of the young dogs on the Two Rivers 200 race this past weekend and placed 3rd, of 8, and won the Sportsmanship award, as voted by the other mushers. We are still considering the idea of one of us going to the Kobuk 440 that runs out of Kotzebue and starts in a couple weeks. We were hoping to have some Quest winnings to help with the cost of flying the whole team out there, but if we get the funds you have graciously helped raise in time, we may use some of that for the upfront costs of getting there….
